The Magnet Recognition Program® was developed by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to recognize health care organizations that provide nursing excellence. Numerous published studies have demonstrated that organizations that receive Magnet™ recognition have better nurse to patient ratios, a higher percentage of certified nurses and BSN prepared nurses, and better patient outcomes.

- Cheryl A. May, MBA, BSN, is the Director of Nursing Research and Professional Practice at Children’s National Medical Center, an organization currently on the Journey to Magnet Excellence™. Cheryl is also the Former Director of the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®.
- Patricia S. Yoder Wise, RN, EdD, NEA-BC, ANEF, FAAN, is the President of the Wise Group, Professor at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center,
and the Immediate Past President of ANCC.*
